Step 1: Make Sure You Have a Professional Instagram Account
Before connecting to BrickGPT, your Instagram account must be either:
- A Business Account, or
- A Creator Account
To check or switch:
- Open Instagram → Go to Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account.
- Choose Business (recommended) and connect it to a Facebook Page when prompted.
- Done — your Instagram is now ready to link through Meta.
Step 2: Create or Log in to a Meta Developer Account
- Visit Meta for Developers.
- Log in with your Facebook account (the same one linked to your Instagram Business Page).
- Click “My Apps” → “Create App.”
- Choose Business as your app type.
Step 3: Set Up Instagram Basic Display or Graph API
- In your app dashboard, scroll to Add Product.
- Select Instagram Basic Display or Instagram Graph API and click Set Up.
- Basic Display: For showing posts and profile info.
- Graph API: For advanced features like scheduling, posting, and analytics.
- Follow the quick-start instructions and add your Website URL (your BrickGPT domain).
Step 4: Get Your App Credentials
- Go to Settings → Basic.
- Copy these two items:
- App ID
- App Secret
- Scroll down and fill your App Domain, Privacy Policy URL, and Redirect URI (BrickGPT’s callback URL).
- Click Save Changes.
Step 5: Connect Your Instagram Account to BrickGPT
Once your App is set up and your Instagram account is a Business or Creator account linked to Facebook:
Copy all the keys and head to your BrickGPT account under “Social Media Settings” → “Add Instagram Account”
Fill all the respective fields accordingly and save to proceed.
Step 6: (Optional) Make Your App Live
If you want other users (beyond yourself) to connect their Instagram accounts:
- Switch your app from Development to Live mode in the Meta Developer Dashboard.
- Meta may require Business Verification or additional App Review for certain permissions (like
instagram_basic,pages_show_list,instagram_manage_insights, orinstagram_content_publish).
